New Student Precinct, University of Melbourne
A design collaboration between Lyons, Koning Eizenberg Architecture (Los Angeles), Architects EAT, NMBW Architecture Studio, Breathe Architecture and Aspect Studio with Glas Urban (Landscape).
Following a national design competition, Lyons were appointed to undertake this major new student precinct for the University of Melbourne, as a multi practice design collaboration. The project involves the creation of a new student focussed precinct (as a combination of adaptive reuse and new buildings), replacing the existing Student Union, and incorporates a new Arts and Cultural building, a new home for Murrup Barak, a new Student Pavilion, and major retail and informal study and events spaces throughout four refurbished buildings, all stitched together by an extensive areas of new campus landscape.
